Biography

Major Etta Wheeler, a native of Bossier City, Louisiana, enlisted in the United States Navy as an Aviation Maintenance Administration man in 2004. She graduated from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston La with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant (Ordnance) in the United States Army through service transfer and Officer Candidate School in 2007. She earned a Master of Science degree in Organizational and Strategic Leadership from Central Michigan University in 2012. 

 

MAJ Wheeler is currently assigned as the Professor of Military Science for Army ROTC at Tulane University. Prior to her position in Louisiana, She was the Support Operations Course (SPO), Course Manager with the College of Applied Logistics and Operational Sciences within the Army Sustainment University.  MAJ Wheeler has robust operational and tactical experience as a Logistician. She served as the Future Operations Plans Officer (G35) for the 21st Theater Sustainment Command, Panzer Kaserne, GM the Executive Officer and Support Operations Officer for the 18th CSSB, 16th SB, in Grafenwohr GM. She also served as an Observer, Coach Trainer for the 196th IN Bde at Ft Shafter, HI and as the Executive Officer and Aide d Camp for the USARCENT G-4 at Shaw AFB, SC. She commanded the 24th Ordnance Company and served as the Distribution Integration Branch Officer in the 3rd Sustainment Brigade, at Ft Stewart Ga. MAJ Wheeler also served as a Brigade Maintenance Officer, Battalion S-4, Company XO and Platoon Leader in the 1st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade at Ft Johnson (Polk), La. She deployed to Kandahar Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2013.

 

MAJ Wheeler’s is a graduate of the Ordnance Officer Basic, Logistics Captains Career Course, Command and General Staff College. Additional education includes the Theater Sustainment Planners Course, Operational Contract Support, Support Operation and Joint Logistics Course. She was also the first Army graduate of the Marine Corps’ Advanced Expeditionary Logistics Operations Course.

 

MAJ Wheeler’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Army Commendation Medal (3 awards), Army Achievement Medal (4 awards), National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, NATO Medal and Basic Army Instructor Badge. 

 

MAJ Wheeler is married to Brian Wheeler, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and they have one daughter.
