Major James Ramsey

MAJ James Ramsey is a native of Tallahassee, Florida and a graduate of Georgia Military College (GMC) and the University of North Georgia (UNG). Upon Graduation from GMC, he was commissioned through the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) in the Infantry Branch and served in Alpha Company 1/121 Infantry in Lawrenceville, GA.

Prior to Commissioning through the U.S. Army Early Commissioning Program (ECP) in 2011 MAJ Ramsey served as an Infantry Rifleman in 1/167 infantry in the Alabama National Guard joining the Army in 2007. In 2013, he was transitioned to active duty and was assigned to the Transportation Branch.

MAJ Ramsey’s active duty assignments include 130th Engineer Brigade Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, Assistant BDE Assistant S3, 84th Engineer Battalion, Forward Support Company (FSC) Schofield Barracks, Hawaii Distro Platoon Leader and Executive Officer, 82nd Combat Aviation BDE, Assistant BDE S4, Fort Bragg North Carolina, 3-82nd General Support Aviation Battalion (GSAB) FSC Commander, Fort Bragg North Carolina, 8th Army G4 Mobility Air movements, Ground Movements and Deployments OIC, Camp Humphrey South Korea and United States Forces Korea (USFK J44) Wartime Movements Program Coordinator. Executive Officer to the Army Sustainment University President (SES), Army Sustainment University Support Battalion Executive Officer and the Army Sustainment University Support Battalion Security and Operations Officer S2/S3. He is currently assigned as the Assistant Professor of Military Science at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.

His military education includes Infantry One Station Unit Training, Support Operations Course Phase II, Unit Movement Officers Course, TC- Aims II Functional Users Course, Basic Airborne Course, Common Faculty Development -Instructor Course, Advanced Anti-Terrorism Officers Course, OPSEC Level II Course, Transportation Basic Officer Leaders Course, Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course and the Army Command and General Staff College.

His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (3rd award), Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (3rd award), Air Force Achievement Medal, Army Superior Unit Award (Fourth Award), Global War on Terror Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Korean Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Award) and the U.S. Army Parachutist Badge.

MAJ Ramsey is married to the former Cecilia R. Florom and has two daughters Christina and Bailey Ramsey.
